Debra Tomlinson (She/Her), MSW, RSW, Chief Executive Officer, Association of Alberta Sexual Assault Services
Deb started her career as an actor and while working part-time jobs to pay the rent, found herself in the helping profession where she grew wildly passionate and eternally committed to making a difference through individual, community and social change. After completing her Bachelor of Social Work degree at York University in Toronto she moved to Alberta where she completed her Master of Social Work degree and dedicated 20 years to working in the fields of domestic and sexual violence.
Deb started in her leadership role with the Association of Alberta Sexual Assault Services (AASAS) shortly after its inception in 1993. Today, as Chief Executive Officer of AASAS, Deb has stewarded the development of 5 new sexual assault response teams in Alberta, the delivery of province-wide training for professionals on how to respond to disclosures of sexual assault, and a successful public awareness campaign aimed at encouraging all of us to respond positively and with compassion to disclosures of sexual assault.
