Join other IABC Canada West Conference attendees on a self-guided walk to visit the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, which is considered the birthplace of Canada’s national parks. Take your time as you stroll through the interactive exhibits and film presentations as you learn about the history of Banff National Park and railway. Venture through a short tunnel that leads to the hot springs cavern.

Go at your own pace or sign-up for an optional walking tour to explore the impressive historic site, spot wildlife in the thermal springs, and learn more about the history and culture of this special place.

  • Meeting location: Lobby of the Banff Park Lodge Resort Hotel
  • Departure time: 2 p.m. (or go any time on your own)
  • Estimated length of the walk: 140 minutes (two way)
  • Cost: $3.40 per person to be paid upon arrival

Banff is full of histories and with Halloween around the corner, you may not want to miss some spooky history stories about the famous Fairmont Banff Springs hotel in an exclusive heritage ghost tour.

You will get to discover the ghostly past of the Bow Valley on an evening stroll through the paranormal with stories of some legendary ghosts who inhabit the site, unsolved mysteries and terrifying encounters at hotels. Say hi to the “ghost bride” who can be seen mourning her ill-fated wedding day in the Cascade Ballroom and the bellman who some say stills helps guest find their way around the hotel to this day.

The tour will start at 9 p.m. for 1.5 to 2 hours on October 28. You will be required to be able to walk for the duration of the tour. Click here to learn more about the tour and register!
