Director, Transformation Communications and Engagement – Suncor Energy

A seasoned professional, Shauna has a diverse communications background with generalist and leadership roles spanning many industries. Over the course of her career, she has lead both internal and external communications, built a corporate communications department from scratch, initiated stakeholder relations programs and supported key cultural initiatives such as sustainability and Diversity & Inclusion. She recently supported the launch of Petro-Canada’s new brand purpose.

In her current role, Shauna is responsible for enabling transformational change across Suncor, and with key external stakeholders by developing and executing the Suncor 4.0 communications and engagement strategic plan. As a member of the Transformation Management Office, communications will play a critical role to ensure together as an organization we continue to build our competitive advantage by being purpose driven, people focused, data informed, and technology enabled.

Shauna’s contributions to the Communications profession include serving as president of the International Association of Business Communicators’ (IABC) Calgary chapter and serving as chair of the IABC Canada West Region. Shauna has been a guest speaker at chapter events and instructed a Writing for the Web course through SAIT’s Continuing Education faculty. She also co-chaired the 2017 IABC Canada West Region Conference.
