Dare to Lead is an annual meeting for chapter leaders across Canada to:
- connect with each other, as well as Canada West and East board members
- learn best practice by connecting with other chapter leaders that have the same portfolio
- develop leadership skills specific to leading IABC chapters and volunteers
- get inspired by new ideas to make your programming the best it can be while also inspiring future IABCers and communicators
Dare to Lead 2025 will take place in Ottawa, on October 28, right before the IABC Canda Conference. This will be a one-day program with a social activity leading into the conference opening reception.
All chapter leaders are invited to participate and the cost will be covered by IABC Canada. Grants are available to help with travel and accommodation needs. Please contact your chapter Vice President who is your regional board representative, or email cwr-pd@iabc.com if you need more information.
History
IABC Canada West Region has been hosting Dare to Lead (D2L) annually since 1996. The conference has always brought together dozens of board leaders from six IABC chapters (BC, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina and Manitoba) from four western provinces. As of 2022, our colleagues from Canada East have also joined in the fun, creating an engaging event for all IABC Canada chapter leaders.
Chapter leaders join professional development presentations and participate in interactive sessions to build and strengthen leadership capacity and gain board governance skills while learning innovative practices and trends to apply to their roles on the board.
The biggest and often most-valued takeaway from Dare to Lead is the connections you will make with your IABC leadership peers from across the region. Building connections will serve you both as a leader on your board and in your professional journey.
