Sue Heuman is an accredited authority on organizational communications, who brings her more-than-35- years’ experience to the clients she serves. Since co-founding Focus Communications in 2002, Sue has been a senior strategist and executive advisor, helping clients define, understand, and achieve their communications objectives. She developed, and has delivered, a half-dozen communications-related training programs for executives and middle managers.

A long-time International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) volunteer, she has contributed at the international level for more than 20 years. She is a past IABC Director of Accreditation Exams, Past Chair of the international IABC Chapter Relations Task Force, and Past Chair of the IABC Global Communication Certification Council. She is currently serving on IABC’s Foundation Fundraising Committee. She has been a mentor to several young professionals and is always willing to share advice with those just starting out.

Sue believes strongly in giving back to the community and just wrapped up a three-year term on the NorQuest College’s 1000 Women Advisory Committee, which raises funds to remove barriers to education. Through her company, Focus Communications, Sue has provided thousands of dollars of probono services over the years to local charities and not-for-profit organizations.

She is the 2016 recipient of IABC’s Rae Hamlin Award and was IABC Edmonton’s Communicator of the Year in 2016. She is the co-owner of Focus Communications. In her spare time, Sue loves fashion and holds an Image Consulting Certificate from Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
