Who better to help shape the future of this profession than the people living it every day?

IABC Canada East Region (CER) is calling for nominations for our 2026/27 Board of Directors. We are looking for experienced, forward-thinking communications professionals ready to lead at a regional level and make their mark on the profession in Canada and beyond.

About the region:

IABC Canada East Region (CER) is one of six regions across IABC, comprising seven chapters across Newfoundland and Labrador, the Maritimes, Quebec, Waterloo-London, Ottawa and Toronto. We’re one of two regions across Canada.

To support our members, we deliver key initiatives including Silver Leaf Awards, the Master Communicator program, Canada Conference, and chapter development programming. We also invest in volunteer leadership training and professional development opportunities that strengthen members’ careers and advance the communications profession.

• CMP/SCMP Certification Credits — Earn a minimum of 10 of the 40 credits required annually for your CMP or SCMP certification or recertification. That is 25% of your yearly requirement, built right into the role.

Open Board Positions

We are recruiting for four director roles for the 2026/27 term:

• Director, Finance — Steward the financial health of the region with strategic oversight, disciplined budget management and sound fiduciary leadership.
• Director, Communications — Own the regional voice. Develop and execute communications strategy across CER channels while co-ordinating national content with Canada West Region.
• Director, Member Experience — Champion the member journey from coast to coast, building connection, engagement and value for communications professionals across Eastern Canada.
• Director, Awards and Recognition — Co-lead Canada’s premier communications awards programming, celebrating excellence through the IABC Silver Leaf Awards and national recognition initiatives.
